Bruce Highway Upgrades (Maryborough - Gin Gin)

Civil Engineering Design

HIG was engaged to undertake upgrading works the Bruce Highway (Maryborough – Gin Gin). The project was located on the Bruce Highway (Maryborough – Gin Gin) 1.1km north of Maryborough and extended 3.5km to Deadman’s Gully.

The project scope included widening of the existing road, including the provision of Wide Center Line Treatment, intersection upgrades to CHR and CHR(s) treatments, guardrail installation and Safer Roadsides improvements. The project works included asphalt pavement, pavement widening, drainage, intersection upgrades, lighting and safer roadside treatments. The project required the delivery of detailed design including construction plans, estimate and Transport Infrastructure Contract (TIC) documentation.

The project was part of the Bruce Highway Safety Improvement Tranche funding. This involved various funding mechanisms that required the project to be split into the various types of work to match the funding mechanism.  This was achieved through collaboration between TMR and HIG officers throughout the project lifecycle.

The project commenced in January 2017 and construction is to be completed in 2019
