Kingaroy CBD Streetscape Revitalisation
Kingaroy is the main hub of commercial and economic activity in the South Burnett Region and this project was to undertake a critical revitalisation of the Kingaroy CBD.
Client
South Burnett Regional Council (SBRC)
Project Category
Electrical Engineering
Timeframe
January 2020 – May 2022
Our Project Mission

Harrison Infrastructure Group (HIG) were engaged to undertake the electrical and ITS design for the CBD. This included:
-
Traffic Signal Design:
-
Modification of 4 existing signalised intersections
-
-
Lighting Design – including:
-
Determination of appropriate Category
-
Rate 3 lighting design for DTMR and SBRC based on the road authority.
-
Flood lighting for pedestrian facilities
-
-
Electrical design:
-
Main switchboard for events, decorative lighting, car chargers and SBRC street lighting
-
Rate 3 switchboards
-
ITS switchboard
-
-
ITS design:
-
CCTV design to maximum coverage of critical surveillance areas as identified by QPS
-
Fibre network for CCTV
-
-
Liaising with PUP authorities to relocate all services as per IPWEAQ requirements
Our Approach
HIG identified during initial discussions of project inception that relocation of services to achieve service corridors as per the IPWEAQ requirements was not feasible within the proposed project budget.
The initial design brief also assumed that all of Ergon’s overhead network would be reconstructed underground, however, this was also beyond the project budget. Instead, HIG’s designs were completed to accommodate the existing overhead network remaining in place.
Additionally, HIG provided the required conduit network, as directed by Ergon, such that future undergrounding of this asset could be undertaken with minimal surface disturbance
The Result

These changes to the initial project scope required HIG to be flexible during our design process to deliver a comprehensive design solution that achieved our clients design objectives and incorporated the greatest value-add components within the financial constraints. This included providing separate staging of works for multiple construction stages and providing an ultimate design solution as future works.
Upon completion of the design HIG were further engaged in a construction support role to assist the construction crews with design queries or any issues identified during construction.
