Lakes Creek Road, Rockhampton

Harrison Infrastructure Group and SMEC were engaged by Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) Fitzroy to undertake the design of WCLT treatment and the replacement of the existing Frenchmans Creek Bridge in a 60 hour window.

Client

Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR)

Project Category

Civil Engineering

Timeframe

January 2021 – February 2022

The short time frame is driven by the need to minimise disruption to Type 1 Road Train access to the abattoirs on the eastern side of the bridge.  With no alternate route to bypass Frenchmans Creek an innovative approach was required.

HIG’s role in this project was the deficiency assessment of the 2km section of Rockhampton – Emu Park Road,  WCLT design, signal / lighting design and co-ordination of PUP works.  The co-ordination of PUP relocation was critical to the successful delivery of this project.

This was the first time TMR has attempted to replace an entire bridge within such a short timeframe.
