Project Timeline
July 2012 – March 2015
The main anchor of the business park is the Wellcamp Airport, which is the first greenfield public airport in almost 50 years and is Australia’s first privately built public airport. With a runway of 2.87km long and 45m wide, the airport is capable of taking jets (up to 747), will run regular passenger services and commenced operations in 2014.
HIG were involved in the initial planning for the 900ha business park, in determining the number and location of connections to the external road network, investigations into a potential interchange with the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing and geometry internal to the business park.
A cumulative traffic and pavement impact assessment was undertaken for the commercial, industrial and airport precinct (approximately 900 hectares), which is expected to include a wide variety of uses, such as industrial, offices, shopping centres, vehicle showrooms, a hotel, recreational facilities, commercial premises, hangars and other uses that would benefit from being in close proximity to the Wellcamp Airport. HIG have also undertaken individual traffic impact assessment for a number of developments within the business park, including the Wellcamp Airport.
Our project team have also delivered individual traffic reports for developments within the business park for:
